The Women’s War Effort: The Women of World War One

Discover the vital roles women played in the First World War. From caring for wounded soldiers as a nurse, making weapons as a 'munitionette', or trying to recruit soldiers through the controversial White Feather campaign, the Great War opened up many opportunities for women and was a turning point in the fight for women’s rights.

Accompanying the exhibition Remembrance weekend will see the museum inhabited with WWI characters, alongside free children’s activities including poppy making and writing poems to commemorate the fallen soldiers of WWI.
